The 4 Hour Work Week Review
February 9, 2008 · Print This Article
Description: The book, “The 4 Hour Work Week”, gives us a unique perspective on how to live to work and not work to live.
It’s about taking time to smell the roses and the ways to manage your work time effectively to be able to earn a living while enjoying your life.
It goes into techniques including how to outsource work, cutting the time you actually spend on it, and how to get a better return on investment as a result.
Review: If you work eight hours a day or more at an outside job or if you are working at a home-based business, you need to read this book.
I run my own business from home because I wanted to spend more time with my family. Things didn’t quite work out that way, because no matter what I tried I couldn’t produce work in a timely and effective way that left any time in the day to enjoy life.
Because of this book, I have learned valuable techniques that have made this possible. The book is full of advice, tips and information on how to change your life so that both work and play are within your reach.
It’s a reality based guide to how to be your own boss on the Internet and still have time left over to enjoy your family and personal time.
If you are like me, every time you pull a chair up to the computer, you are overwhelmed and overrun by email. You shiver at the prospect of opening your inbox, right?
Well, no more. Because of the techniques I learned in this book, I limit the amount of time I spend checking email. That one little change has afforded me a wealth of extra time in my day. Believe it or not it works.
How-to’s on business startup, a bevy of ideas, hopes and helpful suggestions have allowed me to take my business to the next level while shortening my workday.
One of the largest points made in this book is that of the many ideas you read in the book, you need to take the time to read and absorb the material.
Keep reviewing it and apply the concepts that you find that fit your particular situation. It evens suggests that I travel and how to save money doing it. The ideas of living and traveling for free will amaze you. It astounded me, and I am willing to try them out.
I think everyone should read this book because not only is there something in it for everone, it is easy to understand and follow. You will probably have an “ah-ha” moment and walk away with 1-2 ideas on how to change something for the better in your life.
Criticism: While I’ve had a ton of praise for “The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich“, I will point out that the author could have gone more in depth in a few areas. This is more of a call for a sequel to the book than a true criticism because it left me wanting more.
