You’re Already Working Hard At Something

May 4, 2008

Working HardA primary reason for lack of motivation is that to make the necessary changes that are conducive to success seem too difficult.

It is much easier to be a “watcher,” to sit back, stagnant, doing nothing while you groan and gripe about how terrible everything is and how tired you are of your current situation.

But the only reason that remaining static seems easier is because it is what you have become accustomed to doing. The fact of the matter is that you are already working to remain where you are currently.

Do you find it easy to ignore the desire to accomplish more in your life? Do you find it easy to hold yourself back from achieving your goals?

If so, you are keeping yourself in limbo. Momentum wants to pull you forward, where there is more for you, but your fears and doubts pull you backward and hold you down. It takes a great deal of internal strength, perseverance and endurance to remain balanced between such powerful forces.

It stands to reason that if you are working so hard to stay where you are, all it takes is a simple shift of focus to redirect your energies and move forward.

But how can that be done?

It may seem scary, like a huge leap from where you are to where you want to be; but it helps if you are able to identify the one thing that stands between you and your ability to reach for more.

While this hindrance is different for everyone, but there are some common reasons. Perhaps you can pinpoint your barrier to success and begin to make some changes in your life. [Continue Reading]

Purpose In Action

March 27, 2008

Purpose In ActionIf your life seems to be weighed down by heavy energy and your motivation to do something meaningful has taken a nosedive – get moving! Inertia is like a virus that devours your joy, inspiration, and focus, leaving stagnation and dullness in its wake.

You end up feeling sluggish and scattered, knowing you’re not happy with your life circumstances but unclear what to do about them. The best weapon to clear away stagnation is simply: ACTION.

It doesn’t even matter what type of action you take. The important thing is to get some positive energy flowing through your life again. If you’re feeling confused and oppressed in your home, start clearing out your cabinets and closets.

Toss out old junk you no longer need. Better organize what you want to keep. If your body is feeling unbalanced or sluggish, start exercising immediately. Take a walk, do some yoga, stretch, drink plenty of water.

These actions will get positive energy flowing through your body again and you’ll quickly feel a surge of clarity and motivation. Do the same with all other areas of your life: financial, emotional, spiritual, physical, mental. Clear away what you don’t need and take action to bring in more of what you want. [Continue Reading]

If you would like to convert your life into something miraculous, begin constructing doors like mad! You can either clear the ones you have barricaded in the past, or snap up a saw, a few nails and a hammer and begin constructing fresh ones! [Continue Reading]

Believe In Your Abundance

September 9, 2007

Believe In Your AbundanceIs great abundance something you believe that you deserve? Do you think that it is possible to have it in your life? Will your life be much more rewarding and worthwhile if it contains a certain amount of abundance?

Most of us would like to believe that we deserve great abundance in our lives, but at the same time there is always that irritating little voice in the back of our minds that taunt us, delivering messages such as:

…stop kidding yourself. You are not meant to be wealthy and happy. You know that you are not one of the lucky ones. Just accept it and let it go. You are meant to only live a mediocre life. Just accept it.

Always Demand The Best From Yourself

July 10, 2007

Demand The Best From Yourself“Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anyone else expects of you. Never excuse yourself.” - Henry Ward Beecher

Why is that we are so good at demanding the best from others, yet when it comes to ourselves we always give ourselves more slack?

We allow excuses to take over our lives and hold us back. We then use those same excuses to explain why we havent been able to achieve the successful that we desire.

It’s not surprising that we try to go a little easier on ourselves since we already feel pressured and overwhelmed by our obligations and the expectations of others.

However, while the demands of life can deplete our resources, demanding more from ourselves can actually add more to who we are.

The harder we work on ourselves, and the more excellence we demand from our actions, the more focused we will be and the better people we will be because of it. [Continue Reading]

The Secret Of The 80/20 Rule

April 28, 2007

The SecretThe Pareto principle is a principle that states that for most things, 80% of consequences come from 20% of causes. This is also known as the “80-20″ rule. For example, it’s likely that you wear 20% of your wardrobe 80% of the time. The same is true for your business, in that 80% of your business will likely come from 20% of the clients you have.

Although it seems to be good business practice to many, it’s actually unfortunate that most people will spend 80% of their time courting the 80% of their clients who don’t bring in business.

The flipside of this is that 20% bring in most of your business. Therefore, 20% of the tasks you do each day will bring the majority of your business. If you want to streamline your business and spend your time where it really counts most, consider the following:

Spend the bulk of your time dealing with your best customers. [Continue Reading]
