Purpose In Action
If your life seems to be weighed down by heavy energy and your motivation to do something meaningful has taken a nosedive – get moving! Inertia is like a virus that devours your joy, inspiration, and focus, leaving stagnation and dullness in its wake.
You end up feeling sluggish and scattered, knowing you’re not happy with your life circumstances but unclear what to do about them. The best weapon to clear away stagnation is simply: ACTION.
It doesn’t even matter what type of action you take. The important thing is to get some positive energy flowing through your life again. If you’re feeling confused and oppressed in your home, start clearing out your cabinets and closets.
Toss out old junk you no longer need. Better organize what you want to keep. If your body is feeling unbalanced or sluggish, start exercising immediately. Take a walk, do some yoga, stretch, drink plenty of water.
These actions will get positive energy flowing through your body again and you’ll quickly feel a surge of clarity and motivation. Do the same with all other areas of your life: financial, emotional, spiritual, physical, mental. Clear away what you don’t need and take action to bring in more of what you want.
The problem with inertia is that it’s infectious. It may start in one area of your life and quickly begin spreading to others if you don’t take action to stop it.
If you ignore it long enough, it takes over and leaves an empty shell where your life used to be. It may seem difficult to climb out of a pit of inertia, and indeed it is – at the beginning.
However, taking one small action can provide the strength and will to take another, and yet another. The more you stay in action, the easier it is to stay in action. Before long, the stagnation is gone and you’re feeling much more purposeful again.
Visualization Enhances Your Creativity
Has your creative flair gone on strike or just taken what seems like a very long vacation? Do you feel like your creativity has been blocked since her departure? Try using some visualization to lure her back.
Visualization is to bring the feelings of the images you see to life, so that you feel it as if it were a part of your physical being. Studies on visualization have found that the subconscious mind does not distinguish between mental and physical encounters; it sees one just as real as the other.
Which means that by generating and watching mental movies you can produce a positive change in almost any area of your life – including creativity. Using visualization to improve your creativity has no set rules. You can use the suggestions below or develop your own techniques, just don’t forget to have fun.
Visualize your mind opening to creative inspiration. It is essential for you to open your mind to new ideas. If you spend a lot of your time feeling drained, bewildered, puzzled or worried, it is possible your mind is taxed and closed, because you’ve got so much happening mentally.
Visualizing on a daily basis can stimulate your artistic side and help you to be more focused in other areas of your life as well. You should spend a few minutes taking slow deep breaths, relax your body and calm your mind as much as possible. Imagine you are outside of your body looking at yourself.
Center in on your face and head. Imagine the top of your head starts to slowly open, like an oval-shaped bowl. Now move your focus to a point directly above your head where you can see numerous artistic ideas circling, looking for where they will root.
Tell them that it is OK to enter, and watch as they spiral down to immerse themselves into your mind. Now change your view so that you are once again inside your body, feeling these fantastic ideas saturating your being and rousing your longing to create.
Visualize yourself as more happy and artistic. Many times we feel cut off from our creative side simply because we don’t remember to focus on it during the day. Spend some time imagining the opposite situation.
Imagine that you are very attuned to your own creativity; weave a ribbon of creativity through every happening. Imagine yourself being clothed in vivid colors, laughing robustly, taking pleasure in delicious foods, loving intensely, and taking the time to enjoy your life.
See yourself as an accomplished musician, writer, painter, actor, or any other creative persona. How would this version of you act? How would he or she live each day? Now make an endeavor to include these qualities into your physical experiences.
Visualize yourself being more confident about your creative works. If you’ve blocked out your artistic side due to a fear that you’re just not good enough, then it’s time to re-examine what creativity really means!
During a visualization session, affirm that creativity is not about trying to quantify someone else’s idea of beauty or accomplishment; it is about YOU expressing the exceptional traits only you have.
Imagine yourself creating with joy and self-assurance, understanding that the course of creation is considerably more important than the end result.
Visualize yourself developing expert knowledge and ability with all you create, and letting more of your unique qualities to be infused with everything you do.
Imagine when you engage your creative side more, you become more confident in yourself, and the less you care about what others think. Imagine reclaiming another piece of your inner power, which you can use to further enhance your creativity.
These are just a few ideas for using visualization techniques to enhance your creativity, however you can develop many more!
Think about a characteristic of your creative self that you would like to alter; then create a positive mental movie to make it your new reality.
As with anything, the more you practice and visualize, the better you will become at it, and the bigger impact it will have on your life. Get your flair back… use visualization to enhance your creative side.
The Nature of the Mind and Affirmations
A very important yet tough question to answer is why do affirmations work. A number of people are simply comfortable that they work they do not care why or how. However there are others that look for an explanation in everything.
To consciously program your mind to function in the way you want you use affirmations. In order to do this you have to understand that your mind works in two different ways.
There are two parts to your mind, the conscious part and the subconscious part. The conscious part is what you use daily.
It is joined to the external world and keeps up with everything that is going on around you. Your conscious mind to keeps a diary of what is going on around you and seems to keep a conversation going inside your head at all time.
For example: “Okay, first I need to go get groceries, then I’ll come home and get the dishes done… Oh, I almost forgot, I need to make sure and get an anniversary card, I wonder if I will see them before then or if I should mail it. That reminds me, I need to get some stamps…”
This is your conscious mind at work and it never stops. It is the part of mind that is used to manage your bodily functions and your thoughts. You have direct control over this part of your mind.
The subconscious is the other part and it works on a much deeper level than the conscious mind. It is less under your control and is tuned to the non-physical area such as your emotions, including fear, motivation and excitement.
Your subconscious mind is not under your control, it runs on autopilot. However it responds according to how it was previously programmed; which occurs throughout your life’s events and motions that you experience.
There are times when you have a desire that seems to come from within and you do not know why; this is proof of your subconscious mind working.
You may be asking, how does this have anything to do with affirmations? Even though your conscious mind is doing the daily work, your subconscious mind is what is in control of your life.
It influences the who, what, where and how of life on a large scale. For your subconscious mind to work in your favor, you have to program it, which takes place through affirmations.
Affirmations repeated over and over on a conscious level eventually become a part of your subconscious mind. This is true of anything that is done repeatedly.
In your life, programming has taken place over time; behaviors, attitudes or events that were frequently repeated have programmed your subconscious mind.
An example of this would be that as child your mother would reward you with a treat for a job well done. While growing up, this happened over and over again and your subconscious mind associated progress with eating sweets and rewarding yourself. This is not a bad association, unless of course you are always on a diet trying to lose weight.
Your beliefs and attitudes can also be a part of programming. For example, if you were always told when you were young that rich people are sinners, then your subconscious mind is going to do what it can to keep you from getting rich; even if your conscious mind understands that being rich is not a sin, the programming of your subconscious mind will win every time.
This is when affirmations are very important. By repeating positive affirmations about the changes you want to see in your life, you will reprogram your subconscious mind.
You use your conscious mind to re-train your subconscious by repeating the positive affirmations on a frequent basis until your subconscious mind has accepted it as the truth.
Once this happens, your new beliefs will be a part of your normal behavior.
Self Improvement Through Self-Discipline
In order to improve yourself, and bring about a number of positive changes in your life, it is important to maintain a certain level of self-discipline. Self-discipline is the process in which you establish a whole new list of priorities.
You simply encourage yourself to think in a new way than you previously have, and base your actions and the way that you speak in order to improve yourself over time and reach the goals that you have created.
The process of disciplining yourself is a positive one that is thought to bring about positive change. However, it does require a little discipline in order to create the self-discipline that is required to improve yourself.
There are numerous methods that you can use in order to increase the amount of discipline that you have in your life. It is important to tailor this process to suit you as an individual, so that you may reach the goals that you set out to achieve.
In this article, self-improvement through self-discipline, we will provide you with a few examples of how to get a general start in achieving this.
The first component of self discipline is to develop your willpower. In order to create a new way of thinking, feeling, and doing, it is important to ensure that you successfully overcome the habits of the past.
While this will prove to be a challenging task, it is not an impossible task. You must simply make the choice, on a conscious level, to implement and carry through on the changes that you wish to implement in your life. It is important that you know and understand that you are in complete control of your life.
It is you that controls your thoughts, it is you that acts in a certain way, and it is you that chooses the way in which you react to things. You should not allow yourself to be persuaded by outside influences when you are attempting to make an internal change.
When you make up your mind to implement self-discipline in your life in order to bring about positive changes and reach your goals, it is important to keep your goals fresh in your mind at all times. Many individuals find that they become distracted when attempting to reach their goals.
This is often due to various temptations. These temptations often include things that we can enjoy in the present, and do not have to wait for. However, normally, when a person indulges in these types of temptations it pushes their long term goals even further away.
When you create goals for yourself, it is essential to ensure that you constantly remind yourself of your intentions.
It is important to realize that indulging in temptations that are only good for the present, we are pushing the things that we truly want and desire further and further away. You may want to establish a personal commitment to yourself to keep steadfast on the path to obtaining your goals.
Many people even implement the use of an accountability partner in order to ensure that the path from the creation of the goal to the fulfillment of the goal is successful.
As you are implementing the use of self-discipline for self-improvement, it is essential to ensure that you constantly reinforce the commitment that you have made to yourself, as well as to the long term goals that you are attempting to achieve.
Be conscious of all the thoughts that you think, the actions that you take part in, and the words that you speak. This will help you to keep on the right path, and increase your self-discipline.
If you find that you have made a choice that was not the most best one for you and your goals, do not allow yourself to dwell on this. Look at it as a positive, learning experience. We are sometimes only able to learn and grow through true trial and error.
How To Be Prosperous
When you think of prosperity you probably think of something that exists outside of yourself, right? You might imagine lots of money flowing into your life, or having great success in your job or business, or even winning the lottery.
But what if I told you that prosperity is simply a way of BEING, rather than any external essence or condition you can “obtain?”
It’s true! What you see in your outer environment is a direct result of the way you think, feel and believe on the inside.
In order to get more prosperity flowing into your life, turn your attention inward to the things you think, feel and believe right now.
- Do you believe that only the lucky ones can be truly prosperous?
- Do you believe that you’ll never reach the level of success you desire?
- Do you believe that you are destined for failure?
- Do you focus a lot on what you don’t have but wish you did?
If so, you are limiting the amount of prosperity you are allowing to flow through your life! In order to turn this around, you need to focus much of your attention on who you are BEING in every moment.
Here are just a few simple things you can do to BE more prosperous:
1) Live with Passion. When you focus on enjoying yourself moment to moment, you are naturally in the “flow” of prosperity and abundance.
Good things just happen to you, and prosperity comes easily to you. You end up attracting things you want without lifting a finger!
2) Believe in Miracles. Very often we push possibilities away by simply not believing they are possible. (We invest more in impossibilities than possibilities!)
Start believing that what may seem impossible might just be possible – even if you have no idea how. Expect wonderful things and you will very often get them!
3) Detach from Specific “How’s.” If you are in the habit of trying to be in control of every little thing that happens in your life, you’re probably not allowing the universe to work on your behalf.
Instead of rigidly grasping at one specific way your prosperity can come, let go of the reins and let the horses (the universe) roam where they will!
Not only will you feel less stressed when you don’t try to control everything, you’ll probably end up in a far more beautiful meadow than you could have found yourself. (Horses are very wise animals, you know! So is the universe.
All of this does not negate the benefits of taking physical action toward something you want, however. Who you are is a very (VERY!) large piece of the puzzle, but it also matters what you do day to day.
Work through any resistance you have to taking action, and begin moving toward your objectives. Even tiny steps can trigger massive changes – especially when you combine them with massive changes on the inside. You might even cause a prosperity avalanche!
